Who we are

AstroBelvedere is a NO PROFIT cultural association, born from the project of its founder Giorgio Dini in collaboration with the founding members Luigi Benvenuto and Anna Maria Valente.

The main purpose of Astrobelvedere is to divulge and engage enthusiasts, newbies or simply curious who want to try the experience of entering the world of astronomy. Everyone can admire the spectacles that impressed Galileo, Newton, Herschel and other famous astronomers. First you need to learn to observe the sky, arm yourself with a little patience and a safe guide.

We believe that each of us at least once has turned his gaze to the night sky looking at the moon and stars with wonder, perhaps unconsciously  even planets.

Observing the sky was undoubtedly a pastime for prehistoric man. Already the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians, thousands of years ago, from the careful observation of the stars obtained quite precise calendars; however, only the observations made by Galileo and other scientists in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were the first great steps towards modern astronomy. Even today, the science of the sky is fundamentally based on observation. Modernity has made telescopes available which represent an absolutely non-depreciating means compared to professional astronomical observatories. This is an experience worth trying.
